Our Mission and History

Our mission is to strive to provide karters with the widest selection of high quality track proven products at the lowest possible price, to maintain our place as the leader in customer service for the karting industry, and to promote karting both locally and abroad.

Bill Rieken founded Rieken's Racing in 1981. Bill has been karting since the early 60's and had always kicked around the idea of starting his own kart shop. He started up the shop out of his garage and mainly sold parts and did engine work for friends during the evenings and weekends. As karting grew in popularity in eastern Iowa, Rieken's Racing also grew.

In 1993 Bill's son, Mark, graduated from the University of Iowa and came to work for Rieken's Racing. With one full-time employee and the ever growing popularity of karting, the business continued to grow. That same year we began to promote a new 1/7 mile clay oval track (which we now own) being built in Delaware, Iowa.

In January 1997, Rieken's Racing moved to a showroom location in Marion, Iowa to better serve their customers. Rieken's Racing is a warehouse distributor for over 25 companies. With our new website and upcoming promotions we hope to expand and promote karting both locally and world-wide.

As of August 2000, Rieken's Racing is pleased to announce the addition of Chris Omar. Chris will be the customer service manager.
